A NOTE FROM AFLOAT
Hello Friends,
We know this letter comes to you in strange and challenging times during this COVID-19 health crisis. A matter of weeks ago, none of us could have imagined our entire way of life being up-ended and many of the small and big things we take for granted every day being completely erased from our experience.
I write you this note from South Puget Sound, where as live-aboards, we’ve decided to self-isolate and home-school by letting go the dock lines and exploring local waters that we’ve never experienced before. While we are worried about the health of our friends, family and the economy, we are finding small, but significant moments of inspiration and joy.
And while there are real and present challenges to being suddenly thrust into home-schooling and having ‘round the clock time with kids on a small-ish boat – while also still trying to work, and worry about how things will turn out – the time as a family is one we will no doubt cherish for years to come. I hope you all are able to find small inspirations, victories, and moments of brightness during this tough time. Know that we are thinking of you all as we navigate through the next steps, however unknown they may seem for all of us at the moment.
The sun has been out. And for us Pacific Northwesterners this is a sure hope of spring! And while this spring will be different, a daffodil or three still brings a smile to my face. And with the hope of spring, I’d like to share some news, updates and ideas about how we’re planning for future sailing.
Sending you all health, fair skies, and gentles breezes,
